Hello. today I heard that telegram is now sending info to feds. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31619010

The questions are:
Should we still use Telegram? Yes. ofc if you are the most wanted cyber criminal better no
Is it still secure? Its secure from cyber attacks. But not from feds
Should I use my real phone number? No.

What are Telegrams alternatives?

They're sending info to feds not only starting from today. they already was doing this for a prolonged time..
Telegram also uses custom crypto, which is supposedly weakened and doubted by professional cryptographers.
In addition, they only use their custom crypto in "secret" chats.. the rest is stored in plain text as is.

You definitely should avoid Telegram. It's not a place for your conversations and private chats.
