I never really got this argument. Would you crank down the settings on the tor browser to "fit in" more with windows 10 users? Simply using extremely private software is not, itself, illegal and any law enforcement agency knows this and you have every right, at least if you are a US citizen, to tell them to eat shit. Also the idea that signal is better than telegram is kind of laughable. Isn't signal still owned by one singular entity? Further more it isn't really decentralized like matrix is.

This guy knows his shit. Even after all these years later, XMPP is still the most secure IM protocol there is. It's secure against cyber attacks, against feds, against court, against whatever.
Since it's just a protocol everyone can write their own client and server for it, or just use somebody else's -- there are hundreds to choose from. Just download it and start using it.

I mean everything that demands my phone number doesn't give me sense of security.

I heard XMPP is worse than matrix.

Heard where, from who and what was their explanation? Matrix reinvents the wheel, and the motor, and the suspension, and the whole car while XMPP is the battle-tested decades old standard.

I did not expect that !! I thought that even encrypted it will be okay in most cases, except data breaches
