catching 'hackers'

anyone have case studies on how specifically [insert hacker/group here] got caught? i guess forensic type details

not bragging on forums or to friends or being ID'd [i think thats how mitnik got caught?]

but besides human error does it all come down to tracing back ips and logs to the source?

im a noob so going on what little ive read about networking it seems like theres always a fingerprint somewhere to be traced back to the source

idk how more people arent caught...does it boil down to there being so much cyber activity it cant all be tracked?

i brag a lot probably shouldn't, cause if i do get caught its just more evidence.
i see most people getting caught through terrible opsec mistakes like using personal passwords on forum accounts or having home ips leaking

I would assume it comes down to human error. It may take them 5 years to catch you, but they only had to be right once.

Absolutely.

The more time you spend online, conversing with others, the harder it becomes to keep up a perfect wall.

There's an excellent video by The Grugq called "Jail is for wuftpd" or something like that, it's about opsec and opsec fails.

Hmm, good one will be difficult to catch, I think of one but do not remember his name.

Well, there is one here named kilob, A Italian Script kiddy who got doxed 3 times as far as I can recall, and has not good opsec, but law enforcement does not care about him, so you can be like him if you want.I think he is only one of the god users who has been doxed about 2 times with real details and no one wants to buy his dox privately even the seller was offering it for 1 USD.

Unfortunately, the Italian Mafia he runs was running out of funds so he was begging for 20 USD from pom, and was asking for 1000 USD to self ban himself to me, when I got tired of getting his replies and try to hire babysitter, but no one wants to deal with him it seems like even with 1000 USD,one brave soul who did reply was ContiCunts, The legendary babysitter greatly know with his godly bamboo stick.

I remember now it was Kevin Mitnick
