So In another thread I read someone said to use Windows 8.1 for pentesting my question is why? I use Windows 8.1 as burner VMs and they are so hard to use. Maybe there is something I am Missing

Because I think Windows 8.1 is lightweight testing machine.

Windows 8.1 is fastest Windows ever, you can use classic shell and then it's pretty good.

they brought back the start button in Win8.1

I dont know honeslty why people windows 8, I dont see any advantage over 10 or 11

I have Windows 8.1 on my Laptop machine and I'm too lazy to format it and reinstall everything!

I think win 8.1 more use in old computer

Why Windows 8 is bad .I use it and is ok.For pentest you can use some Burp or any different software.But most is use for Linux.And you need some shell console .But nowadays more website are protected with WAF.And they will fast Ban your IP .Then you need VPS ,or VPN to hide your real number IP.And this is not only BAN on one website .They have shared database .Where attack one website lead for be BAN from about 10% website.

But not software is importer but knowledge.
