Why MyBB?

There are many forum softwares nowadays. I'm curious why MyBB is selected as the forum software.

When I was very young I was fascinated by forum softwares, my forums always had 0 users of course, but I did test many out. Invision Powerboard, PhpBB, VBulletin, SFM are the old ones I remember. I was always comparing them.

But decade later I see mostly Discourse and Vanilla. But you also have NodeBB and Flarum. They all feel super snappy compared to the old ones. I haven't tested modern forums besides NodeBB. With NodeBB I find the admin panel a bit lacking, but it does feel "modern".

It was gonna either be xenforo or MyBB when it came down to it. Stuff like Vanilla, flarum, discourse all provide content in ways I don't really like and would require a big overhaul.

Chose MyBB because it was free and open source, and I find it easy to make plugins for it.
