Another russian spy couple caught in Sweden.
by - Thursday, January 1, 1970 at 12:00 AM
Suddenly, Operation Spjut struck in a quiet residential suburb in Greater Stockholm. In front of shocked neighbors, the task force arrested a married couple in their 60s, who apparently have lived a completely normal Swedish life with a house, business and travel. Here's what we know about the couple's life in Sweden before the dawn raid.- They were like anyone else, there was nothing strange about them, says a neighbour.
The clock had struck 06.01 when two Blackhawk helicopters from the Swedish Armed Forces broke the silence in the villa.

the suspected Russian spy couple in Stockholm is in custody on suspicion of gross illegal intelligence activities, prosecutor Henrik Olin announced on Friday afternoon.- The detained person has a connection to the Russian military intelligence service GRU, says Olin.
Chamber prosecutor Henrik Olin says that it is an extensive investigation that will continue for quite a long time and emphasizes that the case is not about suspicion of the crime of espionage, but about gross illegal intelligence activities against Sweden and against a foreign power.
- What I can say about the case, very generally, is that it is about technology acquisition for the Russian military industrial industry. The detained person has a connection to the Russian military intelligence service GRU.

SVT Nyheter has previously revealed that the spy couple's company was run by a man who had previously been identified as an agent in the Russian intelligence service GRU and that the company traded in transistors.
Also suspected of crimes against the United States
Furthermore, Henrik Olin says that there has been extensive international cooperation in the case and that the criminal suspicion of gross illegal intelligence activities against a foreign power concerns the United States.
- There has been, and will be, further cooperation with the US and with the FBI, which has been our main partner in this preliminary investigation, he says.
