Using telegram anonymously?
by - Thursday, January 1, 1970 at 12:00 AM
Hello,
I want to join the site's telegram, but I am worried about using a temporary SMS service to activate my account. I've been thinking about using smspool, but if I used this doesn't that mean if another user tries to sign up using that same phone number, they would get access to my account?

Looking for advice on how I should do this

EDIT: Was really lazy in posting this, you can find the answer by looking at other posts on the forums, lesson learned: search around for your question before asking.

If these sms pools, yes, there is potential threat that other users could sign up using the same numbers. But you could do extra security on your accounts,
like passcode and 2fa. That would be safer.

Thanks for your response, I have done some more reading and it seems like you can only create a new telegram account if you are using the mobile app. So far I have been using Whonix to route all my traffic through Tor, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can anonymously register a new account?

rent a number from telnum or other similar services that accept crypto, so you "own" the number and only you can use it.

Yeah this isn't the issue now, I have to make a new account (which apparently can only be done on the app) without compromising my OpSec, do you remember what you did?

You can buy virtual number from sms-activate (or other) and then make telegram registration. After this use hide option for number and this is optimal option.

well telegram generally speaking is a unsafe application which has grown as a safe application.

In reality, telegram does not have a default encryption option for private messaegs. For a message to not be interfered it needs to be thru a secret chat feature, which is not ideal since many newbies that try to get better privacy. Telegram has been subphone'd by german police earlier this year so i would avoid telegram for doing anything illegal.
