What if someone takes control of the domain and points it to a fake copy of this forum, i.e. a honeypot? How can I be sure to reach the legitimate website?

There is only so many things I can account for, however that is extremely unlikely.

The best way to tell is to make sure we haven't stopped using these nameservers:
Name Server: damiete.ns.cloudflare.com
Name Server: dorthy.ns.cloudflare.com
