DNS suggestion?

Hi all!
I don't know if this is the best place to ask these things...

What kind of DNS do you use for the surface web searching? I prefer to steer clear of my ISP default DNS servers and usually go for OpenDNS public servers... but for a matter of privacy concern should I go for my own? I think BIND is too much for my browsing needs. Any good and safe public DNS service or lightweight DNS program for personal use you recommend?

Thanks for any input.

I was thinking more on casual day-to-day use (and even so, I would prefer to stay private) and not being dragged by the tor slowliness or the $burden$ of a good vpn service. But thanks!

If its only for privacy then I would use Cloudflares DNS one.one.one.one

They still have to use a DNS server. Maybe go for 9.9.9.9 aka Quad9.

Thanks! I'll take a look at cloudflare and quad9!

Quad9 seems to be fine.

Wow, liggard user with no clue giving out sec adivse after a specialised Q was asked that already is beyond your recommendation.

-> if you solely use VPN or Tor, and even if you killswitched these features, I would still enter some invalid DNS into the system so no dial up will ever be successful - so there is no leak of DNS dials to your ISP.

As mentioned:
1.1.1.1 Cloudflare,
1.0.0.1 Cloudflare,
8.8.8.8 Google
8.8.4.4 Google
or 9.9.9.9 are well known.

There are big lists of classical DNS online,
some of them for more shady stuff with no Log policys.

And than there is DNScrypt.
SSL/TLS DNS connection,
https://dnscrypt.info/public-servers

that can be runned threw proxies to anonymize the Client IP without trusting the Log Policys of the DNS.
https://github.com/DNSCrypt/dnscrypt-proxy/wiki/Anonymized-DNS

You are welcome.

Next time @spiceontop, dont shit some cheap reply to the thread, but actually invest some work for your reps/credits!
Tz!
