Do you think programming Bootcamps (short online/face to face programs) are a good way to learn the trade, or do.ypu think people are better off just trying to learn on their own?

Everything they teach you at a bootcamp, you def could do on your own. The only reason I joined a bootcamp were for their career services, that is something that will become extremely difficult on your own. I've had 3-4 'good' opportunities just due to their hiring partners alone. Up to you in the end. They provide a good amount of accountability too if you're not the self motivated type :)

LSS: They give you bare basics, enough to land a job. From there forward you have a shit ton of self learning to do. They dont teach a whole lot outside of web.

Imo you could learn everything yourself, maybe it would take more time. Dont know anyone who tried it but i doubt they teach you about algorithms, data structures and code optimization all in 6 month~, so probably with one of them you'end doing frontend

I think offline might be good, because face2face make more interaction, and easy to help someone who's have problem.
