A 24 year old Australian man who wrote Imminent Monitor when he was 15 - was arrested (in 2019?).

He allegedly used the $400,000 proceeds to buy Uber Eats.

and why was he the one that was arrested? He was just selling spyware, can be used for both good and negative results, kind of like guns. Gun manufacturers dont end up in jail cuz someone was shot do they? But this guy surely doesnt deserve getting arrested

1) It's Australia
2) App was probably not advertised as a normal "tool" and may have included shit like "Hack your friend without them knowing!". Also, if they had given any support at all to people with clear bad intentions, then they can be held liable

Several domestic abuse perpetrators and child sex offenders had purchased the software from him. That's going to get him some time.

Are there places in the world that have luxurious jails? I don't think our jails are too horrible here in Oz.

Any aussie here willing to share some context on local laws and practices?
For me, you shouldn't even need a sale disclaimer to be clear that the one holding the smoking gun is the one that will face court.

Honestly, I'd still live with my mom if I could.
I don't care, fresh clothes and good food can't really be beaten.
