I was similar a couple of years ago. Not always easy to find peace of mind in the evening.

not sleeping for a few days in a row will turn being awake into a crazy stressing situation for all your body, muscles, eyes and especially brain. if it's hard to visualize what this stress is about, it's like bending a thick iron bar, once it's done, fold it back it still holds but if you push it in a small time frame with the mechanical stress (in this case) you can brake a metal bar that otherwise you couldnt.
that is not sleeping, this is from a person that have had days of not sleeping and I hate sleeping and eating to some degree as it derails me from my activity. thing is you need sleep, at least naps if not sleep unless you want to deep fry yourself worse than abusing hard drgs.
I've been feeling more confused not sleepin 4-5 days than abusing anything ever, so with moderation I'd recom. some drgs.

Why would I ever do hard labor? I'm far too lazy.

I don't know what to do about it. I only stop to sleep for a bit because I'm afraid I might literally die and the good feeling stops. It's so damn good.
