It depends on your taste of genre. Below is a quote I posted in another thread but they have the same recommendations I would recommend you based on genre.

A Silent Voice is a very good anime movie for those who like the drama genre. Violet Evergarden is a pretty good anime too and is also available on Netflix. Drama with fantasy like magic... The Ancient Magus Bride is really good.
For horror genre I would recommend Parasyte the Maxim and Another... though check with your friend first if they can handle those things.
If you're looking for wholesome slice of life, How to Keep a Mummy. Gakuen Babysitters is another wholesome anime you can try.
If you're looking for comedy Nichijou. Action Comedy? One Punch Man.
You know your friend well more than me so you can take a look at these anime and see if there's one they'd might really like.
Though since the quote was recommendations for just beginners, I can also list some anime that I think would work for veterans.
Isekai Genre:
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime,
Konosuba
Comedy:
Seton GakuenThe entire Toaru-verse is pretty good though there's some repetitiveness and clicheness. There's three anime series:
A Certain Magical Index,
A Certain Scientific Railgun, and
A Certain Scientific Accelerator. Each series go hand to hand with each other and focuses on a different character and their POV in the Toaru-verse. Though if you really want, you can just watch only
A Certain Magical Index as that's the main one.
