It seems like they have found a brilliant way to remain number #1 even now, just not as "Conti" brand name.  If AdvIntel analysts are correct, this was carefully planned and executed, and still keeps the enterprise as the powerhouse/main force in ransomware, with lots of of cells and smaller orgs using various lockers, etc. If one gets caught or closes down, no big deal, just shift to another, while remaining a central power.
