Deal with caution & do your own research.
I have never personally used AlexHost, but after 10 minutes of small research I made my final decision to not even give it a try.
First of all, their Trustpilot page speaks for itself. As you can probably notice alot of their clients have been complaining about terrifying downtimes and unstability. That's alright, every hosting provider has issues with uptimes more or less.
However not every hosting provider has its clients breached. Speaking of how AlexHost was breached made me want to choke myself. If you ignore the privacy of your clients when sending emails, how in the world am I supposed to be convinced about further security breaches not happening, possibly even bigger ones then?
Thread: AlexHost Database - Leaked, Download!
Please consider switching industry, if you let this kind of flops occur, when it comes to clients of yours. I would understand this if you were a WordPress blogger, but jeez.... JUST LOL you're supposed to be more techy geek than majority of the internet, considering you're providing "Fast (with SSD) professional and inexpensive hosting in Chisinau (Moldova), Own DataCenter, Reliability, Security & Safеty".

(September 2, 2022, 06:18 AM)pompompurin Wrote: In approximately May 2022, the hosting provider AlexHost accidentally carbon-copied all of their users on an email, allowing anyone who got the email to see the other people. The leak included Email addresses and Full names. In total, 1.5k Clients had their information exposed.

And reading these Trustpilot reviews....... ehhm, no thank you...

Hello, Dear Zan

I will try to answer your questions.

Regarding Trustpilot
First, let's be honest. How many satisfied people do a review? Very few, for example.
When you are satisfied with your ISP, do you call or leave a positive comment? It can happen, but it's rare.

Most (not all) comments are from people with a lack of knowledge. We've had several customers who bought a VPS and didn't even know how to point the domain to the VPS, then they use Apache, others don't even install a control panel, others don't know how to manage linux and blame everything on our company.

When buying a server or hosting, they are expected to have some knowledge. Right or wrong?

As I said before, some also use our services to abuse and then ask for their money back, we've had customers (obviously I won't mention) who buy and phishing and asking for a refund.
It's against our rules and as revenge some complain on review sites (eg trustpilot and the like).

We have many happy customers, the problem is that many of them, when they are happy, are just happy. They won't waste their time leaving opinions, obviously there are those who do. But it's not that big.
I can give the example of OVH, they have good servers and good network, but most opinions are bad.
But a lot of people still use them, why? Maybe they know that opinions are worth what they're worth. You have another Scaleway example among others.

Here's an example. Are you going to say that you don't know many people who know about this and still use them?
https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/ovhcloud.com

OVH is not bad, I've had good experiences myself and I didn't leave a positive opinion. Because I'm just satisfied. And when a consumer is satisfied as a rule, he stays in his corner, quiet and happy.

Now regarding Emails
We admit, it was our human error. If you think about it, do you think we would send emails like that? We never admit that it was our human error. It just happened, who doesn't make mistakes at work? We all commit ourselves, some worse than others. But everyone does.

If we could go back, we would do it correctly and fix it. But time doesn't go back, time moves forward.
That's the way, we regret what happened.

We are in favor of privacy. Even the biggest privacy advocates make mistakes and get in trouble. We could mention where, who and which. But there is no need. I think anyone knows that.
We can talk about big companies that have suffered fires, when they literally have a lot of money to avoid this kind of thing.

As human beings, sometimes the human being judges the other human being, as a robot. We haven't reached that stage yet. Are they humans at work, do they make mistakes?
Yes obviously, should we avoid it? Of course at all costs. But it is not always possible.

Now finally and last one Downtime and Network
I don't need to say much here, can I confirm and say that there are clients who put a cPanel on a server with 2GB or 1GB of RAM, if it works? Yes, but then what? How much is the weight? What kind of solution do you use? Do you know how to optimize? Do you even know that good RAM is needed? There's a little bit of everything.

There are customers who buy 1GB of RAM and expect it to handle 40,000 visits daily or simultaneously.
Most downtime is sometimes due to lack of knowledge. Some neither cloudflare nor cache use.

Others have pirated plugins and themes with malware. Others use more than 15 plugins at the same time on a 1GB RAM server, others use tons of heavy plugins and themes and don't even know why it crashes... And the answer is literally obvious.

Downtime can happen for several reasons, in most cases it can be the client's fault and the client doesn't want to admit it. Other times, there are customers who are advised to upgrade and do not want to, but then complain that the website goes down or does not work due to lack of resources and they insist on not wanting to upgrade.

And sometimes we do things that are supposed to be paid and we do it for free, like migration. Now imagine a large migration.
This some customers do not value, they only know how to complain. They never see the bright side or recognize it. There are negative and good sides. Why is it always bad and there is never a good one?

These were just a few examples, of course there are many more. We could cite a list. Some think we're bulletproof, no. We do not allow abuse or crime on our network.
We have offshore plans but that doesn't mean they can use it for fraud, scams. We don't.

Best Regards,
Alexhost

Thank you for being transparent. I do understand that no consumer should rely just on Trustpilot reviews, and they are time to time bullshit anyways. However, the data breach was kind of nasty but as you said, we're humans who make mistakes. Just make sure you learnt from the mistake, so that it won't happen in future.
If someone here, on BF, can vouch for AlexHost (escpecially regarding the stability and uptime) I will reconsider testing their servers out.
You have a nice day buddy, and good luck with sales.

We always try to be transparent, trustpilot reviews if you notice we always respond, some don't even contact us. We don't even know who they are.
Because simply some leave a review and don't leave the ticket number or anything. Some of the complaints that we responded to were resolved with the customer.

Guess what happens? Customer is able to edit the opinion, but do you think he or she does? No, because he is simply satisfied and stays in his corner. By all rights, of course.
What i can tell you is that there are customers who want big websites running on 1.5GB RAM vps when that is not always possible. ignore. And then is it our fault?

Others are not even aware of vps. Or they block port 80 and then don't know why the site doesn't work.

But not everything that looks is bad, I may have a good experience, others may not. It is impossible to avoid, any company has or will have dissatisfied customers and satisfied others.

Small note, not all customers are to blame. Some may even be right, but there are others who exaggerate. It's not all bad, the price seems very affordable to me, but some customers say it's expensive. Compared to others (offshore hosting), sometimes we are even one of the cheapest. It all depends on what the customer wants and what they want.

Thank you for your understanding.

What constitutes abuse?

goregrish.com are hosted with AlexHost.

They dox members, there's rumors of a fake 'hacking', cloned their own forum that had their own members as admin (database apparently vanished when the clone was no longer needed), they blackmail members, go through private messages looking for nudes, got dropped by reliablesite.net for harassment and threats of violence, Cloudflare sent out emails with the hosting site's abuse email because they were concerned for people's safety (they could have done it themselves, but... well, Cloudflare), failed to remove underage nude selfies because the girl who posted them 'might be lying' etc etc.

Urban dictionary is half right. The members are great, the people running it are twats
