2 ways that can work are

1: If you know the guy phisically just wait for him to leave his phone in the open and look at the messages with the locked screen, you'll likely see it

2: Using Oauth (Oauth is basically when you connect your google account with other service like facebook or twitter, or so on, there you won't be asked for a 2fa code if your ip adress is in the same country as your victim's)
