If you need easy access to your files from multiple devices (PC, laptop, tablet, etc) get (or build) a NAS.

I always wanted to have nas, but still can decide

I would suggest NAS

This would really depends on your needs. Personally I have a NAS setup so if I have to travel I can still access things that are sensitive. On the other hand local storage is good, but if your host system is compromised, then so are your drives. This could be mitigated a bit by encrypting your drives, but you will take a bit of a performance hit.
My suggestion is to try both, and see what fits you better. Hope this helps!

Well everyone has already said but if you are having lot of files get a NAS or if you do not maintain get Cloud storage like PCLOUD, pretty cheap.
Those who share kindness, I will repay that payment 10-fold, and Who do injustice, try to hurt the innocent, I will repay that injustice a 1000 times over.

I much prefer running a NAS on a local network, especially for copying files off laptops. I find that the issue with manually plugging in drives is it becomes hard to have a backup process for data redundancy, whereas with multiple NAS devices it's easy to whip up an automated backup script.

I have both, NAS is good for backup and keeping important stuff that needs access anytime anywhere. I use local storage for more private stuff.

I think local storage, seems alot more efficient from what I've seen
