What's your opinion on social media? It can be toxic, disgusting, brainwashing, but on the other side you can really make a lot of money out of it. I avoid social media for multiple reasons and sometimes I feel sorry for the kids these days that would probably never have a real childhood.

In my opinion - it had the potential to be very positive but in the end it's become very toxic and dangerous.

it can be a good tool if used correctly
if you only use it for entertainment then it becomes a problem

The social media has lost of benefits-from news, information sharing and connecting with people you hitherto might have  never met.

Social media users are products and possible consumers. Schools use social media to post about school life, social media admins use that to hook up kids on toxic, greed oriented pop ups. Humans are super easy to manipulate, social media owners know that.
I was social media user today I am proud NON social media user.

Good outlook. I remember being hesitant years ago about Facebook and all my friends kept telling me to join, eventually caved. Was the same with MySpace and a half dozen other smaller ones that all inevitably closed down.

They're all toxic places, just groups of people shouting the same shit at each other or others who spend all their time pretending they live perfect lives, so they can take flawless photos to make everybody else feel bad. I hated the feeling that other people were living better lives / accomplishing more, just by scrolling past all their manufactured posts & timelines.

I genuinely believe that the main idea of social media is to create a fake vision for yourself and in order to make others feel bad (other than the idea that all who use free social media are the product), and especially at the age I am, it doesn't matter to me, but man, younger people are so easily manipulated through it. I remember feeling bad as well and yet when I was little social media were not so popular, yes, almost everyone had one but still , we were not yet slaves to it

Yeah definitely, agreed. People had it but they still used to text or ring each other, make plans that way. Now it's all just done over whatever associated APP is used, Facebook, Twitter or otherwise.

And like you said, almost none of it is real. Just people creating fake images of themselves and their life, waiting for that quick dopamine fix that comes from others liking your post.

Perfect definition and should be added to the dictionary.
