Unfortunately, people prioritize networking with other people rather than security and privacy

Telegram is the default messenger of choice in most of CIS.
Fully self host non-federated Matrix or Signal unless you want to actively invite FSB/Europol/FBI to every conversation you have.
If you want opsec, use encrypted radio out of band or carrier pigeons. Get creative - Osama bin-Laden was known for hiding encrypted messages in phonographic photos on USB drives.
