For the experts, can you give any advice to people who are considering starting a career in IT  (cybersecurity especially)

I would recommend hacking into high value companies from your home connection and ask them politely to hire you afterwards or you'll leak all their data.

Don't, there are other areas pay way more and it's not just about areas but what company you work for.
Even a junior job in it helpdesk will pay u more in a bank than that faggotry you mentioned at a security firm. But if thats your wish...

take advantage of any training or cross platform , create a good Porfirio , make buddies in the field , don`t exclude external knowledge , and always try to be creative 
all the best of luck my friend , and try not to be a dick to juniors once you reach the higher levels
