Probably 1 of the best Netflix series ever made.

Almost anything by Mike Flannagan is worth a watch over Halloween. Start on the early stuff like Absentia (2011) then work your way up.

The Midnight Club is the latest thing he's done for Netflix but it's... underhwelming. The main plot has potential but it doesn't seem to spend much time on it.

Also worth mentioning, almost a warning. If you come across The Sadness and decide you want to watch it, make sure you're by yourself. Don't be inviting your mom or girlfriend over for it. Or just skip entirely if you even remotely struggle with watching horrific things.

Outstanding recommendations! In fact, That Sadness you mentioned... seems like a challenge, which of course during the spooky season, is going to be accepted. I'll detail my trauma later.

Good luck with it man. You're gonna have a few images that you'll need to rinse out of your brain after.

"The acting is great, the effects are realistic and comically well done and excessive, and the movie is just a truly entertaining watch from beginning to end. You know it's going to end in a messed up way but you watch anyway, simply because everyone put their true heart and soul into this film."

That's sold it, definitely grabbing this NOW.

Not sure what caliber of 'messed up' this person is judging it by. Fucking entire thing begins messed up, doesn't just end that way lol. Entertaining is also not the word I'd use. It's certainly something though.

Your perception and text about it, is actually more of an enticing review than what I posted!

The V/H/S films are worth a try as well. Honestly, there's only a few that are really good (several good Korean ones) but they're worth a watch. Each short is a different director.

Ya see, I was playing Silent Hill 1 recently, and it dawned on me of this newly discovered creepiness of the game; it's graphical imperfections (Akin to VHS quality video nowadays, feels more apt to have a haunted tape than a haunted blu-ray lol) . There's a certain level of media that has this creative platform for being unsettling due to it's outdated quality. This VHS series is such a good recommendation, thank you. I've long loved VHS based horror.

Going back to the Silent Hill thing, I can see why so many newly made horror games have adopted his PS1 aesthetic, it really works!
