The fact you're even asking this question and asking about specific methods means you'll probably get caught (unless you live outside of Western jurisdiction in which case do what you want but don't piss off the wrong people)

As for tor`s hammer , yes the project can be used for that
well , i think the nearest  option would be RUDY , are you dead yet , however i think most modern day hosts have a detection for it 
give it a check tho , take my words with s pinch of salt as im not a DDoS attack expert 
Also Slowloris and Floods may be of an interest  for you
