a lot of the time I open files, i'll get a message saying something like "file contains null characters" would you like to open it in Hexadecimal, binary etc (I use EmEditor, Sublime doesn't work well for me) , and I get complete gibberish.

How do I open the file in plain english? This has happened for non SQL files as well.
