November 14, 2022 at 6:54 PM I think the interesting thing is that they gained *root* shell, when the user themselves only had a restricted shell.
i.e. People might keep the unpatched software just so they can cool enhancements to their cameras. Like avoiding having any outside connections or using the cameras in ways that aren't intended.
I've spend much time rooting phones for various reasons, and being able to root all IoT devices after their warranty/support ends is actually a plus.
