Hmmm... not a sound engineer here, but I would say using an existing algorithm to distort means it can be reverse engineered back to the original sound wave?
If I had ever a need like this, I would certainly take my time and jump to learn a few tricks of my own and do my own distortion box or something...
From the top of my head, I would say I would mess not only with plugins and stuff but also re-recording my own voice over and over in different layers playing different voice styles of my own to mess the wave, re-recording stuff from a speaker to a microphone analogy to destroy the original digital wave signature, scramble different wave formats and even compression, mess always randomly dynamically with speed and other stuff, although probably simply using a voice synthesizer could do the trick for good safely.

Thanks for posting, been looking for a decent voice changer to use on Linux with VOIP. Hopefully it can't be reverse engineered like the other user mentioned.

Do any of these run through live recording? Like I wanna change my voice on a discord call on the fly
