Hi guys! I know the Shanghai Police Dataleak happened about a month back, but while reading up on it online i saw interesting articles by NYTimes (https://www.nytimes.com/2022/07/07/business/china-police-database-hack.html) and CNN (https://edition.cnn.com/2022/07/05/china/china-billion-people-data-leak-intl-hnk/index.html).

The server that housed the database was actually unsecured since April 2021, and some security companies had actually chanced upon it way before the database was copied out in June 2022.

Did anyone know about this and managed to access the unsecured database in those 14 months? I also know its a long shot but do you guys know if anyone did actually pay the 10BTC for the database? Thanks!

10BTC. That's a lot of money. But cheap for the value of the data.
