After hours of trying, I usually go for a walk, work out or leave it for tomorrow and go to sleep.

Programmer here.

Some methods I use to handle frustration brought by a bug or a complex problem.

* i go for a quick workout, just do body weight exercises
* sometimes i go outside and get coffee and do people watching
* i play video games for s bit to reset my mind
* i do household chores

Then I go back and most of the time I resolve it soon afterwards

Go for a run
Get something to eat
Relax with YouTube or some games for a bit
Take a shower and try and look at the problem from a different angle

I explain the problem to my dog. She listens and I often find the solution in my explanation.

If frustration is starting to get to me I will jump in the shower, go for a walk or throw on some episode/film that dont need to focus on

I like the frustration. I use it as some kind of motivator. If I am faced with a challenge, then I want to solve it as fast as I can and I see it as some kind of game. When I get truly stuck, I will either go to another library that has the bug fixed, go to a different programming project, try to help someone with their bugs, or try to explain the way the programme works to myself in my head.

Daily exercise is a must for everyone, but it's a vital thing to be doing if you're a programmer since you are going to be confined to a desk most of the time. It also gives you the dopamine to allow your brain to function optimally, which in turn will allow you to not even write code that is bug-prone.

Take an hour or two off, ore maybe just a full day and then take a breathe and try it again. if it doesnt work then you might just want to ask on stackoverflow.

Maybe sometimes when you feel stressed just go for a short walk and look at the stars (at night) or get blinded by the light at day.
