one would assume its because they see ddosing as a way to have "fun"? idk, i suppose ddosing your friends who you're playing with on xbox is meant to be enjoyable, however i'd only see it as incredibly annoying. Its a fairly good introduction to things that could potentially turn them onto a better path, i.e risk analysis type jobs but i think most of it is just to appear cool.

they dont think about the reprecussions cuz as far as they're concerned, it doesnt / won't impact them on the long run, which is even more arrogant.

idk. i think there should be more to take children that clearly have some sort of aspirations with computers and make them do something useful or to learn something useful, almost similar to what the NCA & what GCHQ did.

I think the whole thing has its roots on the whole "Anonymous" hype where most kids search up "How to become hacker" on google and proceeds to download shitty ass tools and believe everything being told online about hacking. If their role model does the same, so will they and still be convinced that using tools without a deeper or proper knowledge about it is still hacking. Nowadays people even believe that sim swapping is hacking which just proves how far downhill the entire thing is going...

For me, this was the whole start tho', pretending to be an 'AnOnYmOus HaCkEr' and DDoS everyone like 6-7 years ago.

I am pretty sure that everyone on this forum searched at least one time at their start on Google 'How to become a hacker', 'How to hack', whatever.

You cannot know from the beginning what a CVE is, what a 0/1-day is etc, of course when you see that you can take someone's network down or an website you will think that's a cool thing to do and would flex with it.

So, I think all these kids need is just to mature and keep doing their thing. After a while they will realize the shit they're doing at the moment means basically nothing, and will try to improve and learn new things.

Think about it, today's kids who are just DDoSing, in ~20years they might save lifes by protecting the medical equipment from the future. (maybe I'm overthinking, but that's an example)
