I would maybe give it until the fall to make extra sure all the main bugs have been addressed, maybe look at extra security options that isn't just Windows defender if you're worried?

It's easy to say to not use Windows and go for Linux instead but depends what software you need to run, Windows has the monopoly unfortunately in terms of mainstream software.

Microsoft said Windows 11 is designed to be more secure than Windows 10. That's why they require users to have their system capable with some modules, and encourage them to use those can increase the security but not required.

Win11 is pretty secure, but it all boils down to who hunts you and how do you use the computer. Afraid of the feds? dump it out the window. Afraid of some crappy skid who tries to send malicious pdfs to your mail? you'll be fine.
It's not that the others are more secure, they're just less targeted. Best is probably a live system like whonix or tails, but this again depends on who's looking to get ya

bear in mind that Microsoft may be shady with the info they get on you though. Privacy-wise I'd rather use linux distros

If you have common sense you'll be fine both on Linux and Windows.

Windows is just better malware target (which you won't get infected with cause you have common sense, right?).

Corporate windows environment (Active Directory) IS a security nightmare that will get your company ransomwared (and you don't have that many better alternatives sadly), but that isn't relevant for home user.

I've decided it's time to upgrade to Windows 11, once my new CPU/Mobo arrives today. Been long enough putting it off, should be good now.
