Real or not, that's a lesson for everybody trusting the encryption done by an external entity on which you have no control, as in this case mega - sensitive stuff should land on whatever cloud service is, already encrypted

Nothing is secured, They all lie. File sharing sites can read your files, VPN providers know your IP, IMs know what are you chatting. Nobody's stands to their words. :)

Such is Life :)

Fundamental flaws uncovered in Mega's encryption scheme show service can read your data.

My recommendations for end-to-end encryption cloud storage is:
Filen.io (Open Source)
Proton Drive (Open Source)
Skiff Drive (Open Source Soon)
Internxt (Open Source)
Ice Drive (Closed Source)
Tresorit (Closed Source)
pCloud (Closed Source)
Nextcloud (Open Source)
Own Cloud (Open Source)

this research was super cool. thanks for sharing

Shocked (Not shocked) that a big brand doesn't actually look after your data.

Not really surprised since the encryption is done using their software on their platform.
