Thanks for this :shy: Thank you @nan9e for the gift >.< July 16, 2022 at 9:55 PM I have been hearing stories like this since I was a kid... I remember back in the early 90's Congress tried to ban exports to Russia of any new generation Intel Pentium processors because they realized there were so much power in there to put into an ICBM and do all the real-time complex math to hit the target. They moved forward quite a bit until they realized it was basically impossible to avoid them from getting those chips since they could get them directly from any Asian factory around (different laws) or even alternative chip makers like Cyrix, AMX, and many others with similar architecture... There's always a way to get that kind of technology, I mean, if you can buy that stuff at your local BestBuy you really think none else will be able to get it? July 21, 2022 at 2:02 PM I remember watching a video on Russia's chip manufacturing from what I recall they're miles behind competitors in terms of both transistor count and size as well as using outdated manufacturing techniques but it'll be interesting to see what happens in a few years since china seems to be making their own x86 chips now originally based around VIA's design. July 28, 2022 at 3:48 PM Do not believe that Russia can produce advanced chips, advanced chips require too many industrial chains, Russia lacks advanced production equipment August 1, 2022 at 1:58 PM I am more than sure that Russia has no chance to make good computer chips. this requires high technology, which Russia does not have and will not have. August 2, 2022 at 1:37 PM To be fair - Russia does have 8 Core Elbrus microchip (their own RISC design, 28nm). Until recently it was produced by TSMC. Now they are trying to re-start production of older 2 Core version on their own line (Mikron Group, 90-65nm process). But Mikron factory is using STMicroelectronics equipment and components, so this story will also be short. August 9, 2022 at 1:19 PM I doubt Russia will be able to replenish the chip supplies or create their own. Big blow to their industrial military complex machine in the near term.
