The 90s!

But honestly, it's hard to truly say one decade is best over another.

1980s Had great iconic classics, lots of rock and remnants of psychedelic influence from 60s and 70s
1990s Was gritty and real, brought a lot of grunge and intense feelings as the year 2000 approached.
2010s Had brought some interesting themes and artists, mostly bling era and hustle music. Lil wayne and kanye west, eminem, jadakiss
2012-2016 Was the Soundcloud era, brought a lot of new sounds to the mainstream like Pro ERA, TDE, Flatbush Zombies, Lil peep xxx and all those mumble soundcloud rappers.
2018-present Seeing many independent artists coming out now

2018-present Good music is still being produced, but the industry seems to be devolving. Radio is mostly irrelevant, it's all about streams. Great independent artists from this era

Oh, yeah it's a difficult choice, but I have to say the 90s as well. I mean, you have Beastie Boys, R.E.M, 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G , Dre, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Pantera, Sublime, Nas , Outkast , A tribe called quest and so many moreeeee. Gotta be my fav period

Agree with previous comments, I'd find it hard to narrow down. 70's to late 90's maybe. I've liked very little past 2010.

The 70's and the 90's, which was basically 70's part 2. 2001 had a series of scorchers though.

If you want to talk dogshit though, 2009-2011, an absolute blight on pop music.

I think every decade has produced some crackin music. 60s in particular has been pretty revolutionary. Late 80s/early 90s for the hip hop and techno. 70s were great. Going even further back, jazz got some mighty tunes. Each era got some amazing artists.

And seconding Dredgen Sun for 2001. Only 1991-1992 and some selected 60s periods (let me put 1965-66 in there) come close. Amazing.

70s as well, yeah, but most of the early 90's hip hop is created by samples of songs from the 70's so yeah I completely agree with the part 2 :D I had to check which pop songs where popular in 2009 and I cringed :D I mean, come on, Poker face?! Generally, the period of 2000-2005 had it's fair share of good pop music.
