GNU/Linux is probably a much more economically viable choice.
Plus, it has more practical uses than a Mac. It's more than just an os for personal computing.
But I'm yet to get my hands on a Mac, so I couldn't tell you much about them.

If yer plannin to program or do computery magic keep on linux, mac is cool but only aesthetically really, itll burn a hole through yer wallet if yer need to upgrade and plus linux justs tends to be easier when it comes to developing anythin so long as yer invest yer 2 cents into workin with it

As the others, i suggest you Linux.

you sholud stick with linux it's more fun to play with

You can install brew on a macOS, which gives you some great tools. but these days most apps on linux are on macOS, thank windows and mac. MacOS is built on BSD. which was mentioned.
